March 5, 2013, the Cubase version was updated to version 1.0.2.In 2017, a VY1v4 version dubbed a "Starter Kit" was released. As well as the VOCALOID4 version of this software, Fukase and Cubase AI, it contained the UR12 product. In 2016, a special package called a "Creator pack" was released for Fukase's VOCALOID4 voicebank.

This is not always possible with various versions of VOCALOID, and can be problematic for users of other DAWs one of the few offered alternatives is Piapro Studio, which in addition to being its own DAW, offers VSTi compatibility. This means the vocals can be used alongside features such as mixers and buses together smoothly. This version is that it's fully capable of working with the Cubase software and utilizing all the features of the Cubase software without fear of compatibility related problems. So the PC version will only be able to use PC compatible vocals and the MAC version will only use MAC compatible vocals. So in the end, Luka v4 was my only real choice.This version does not come with any additional vocals, but will use vocals from either VOCALOID2 or VOCALOID3, though is limited to only being able to use vocals designed for the system it is bought for. I also didn't want to pay the same price for a v3 Vocaloid. I was worried that Luka would sound completely robotic but after looking around for a bit I figured that most of the roboticness comes from a lack of tuning, and I'm more than willing to put time in to making her sound good. I mainly produce progressive metal and while I'm aiming to branch out into some outrun / vapourware I still want to skirt on the side of realism and so I had to rule out Miku. Realitone's Blue was beautiful sounding but not really what I'm looking for. SoundIron's Voices of Rage was cool, but it doesn't have a phoneme sequencer so I'd be stuck with the 100 words that they'd prerecorded and that didn't sound like a great idea overall. The UTAU editor was also a total nightmare, hahaha :( I was willing to give it a shot anyway so I got the Hakaine Maiko sound bank working and it was pretty amazing, but suffered from a lot of inconsistencies (different pitched screams for different syllables, squeals on da and su).

I tried out UTAU but the licensing with the voice banks was a bit of a nightmare along with having to get a new license every 30 days (what if the UTAU web server goes down while I'm in the middle of writing an album?). So I ruled out the YAMAHA route.įrom there, the only real choices I had left were Cryptons stuff which comes with Piapro studio, UTAU, or similar software like Realitone's Blue or Soundiron's Voices of Rage. I was thinking about buying a physical copy since I'll be in Japan at my in-laws for a few weeks, but then I realised that my laptop doesn't have a DVD drive and I'd have to shell out even more to buy a USB one.
